Our web monkeys are working to get a couple of things up and going this week:

Presenter materials. All presenters can send their session materials to us and we will get it up on the site. Send your materials to either me (codecamp at elegantcode.com) or Chris (chris.brandsma at gmail.com). We should see a page up in the next couple of days.

A feedback survey. We will get a survey up to gather your feedback about this year’s Code Camp.

Thanks for a great event.

The response from the Code Camp speakers last night at the NETDUG speaking tips session was unanimous. Let’s do something different with the schedule! Your wish is my command.

We just posted a new schedule which adds 1 full extra session to the day, for a total of 7 sessions you may attend (3 in the morning, 4 in the afternoon). There are several reasons for this change, including:

The new schedule allows us to extend the session times from 50 minutes to a full hour each.

We now have 9 concurrent sessions instead of 10, allowing for a 1/10 reduction in stress when trying to choose your course through the day.

Presenters will have better opportunities to see other presentations and they get to be attendees, too!

We have room for 5 more presentations in the current rooms at this point. If we continue to receive presentations, we may need to re-institute the 10th room, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Thank you to everyone who is helping make Code Camp even better, and thank you for your patience as we get logistics finalized. The overwhelming response to this year’s Code Camp is fantastic.

The new schedule can be viewed here. Speakers, please double check me to assure your session appears as you expect.

Thank you to everyone who attended today’s BCC 2008 planning lunch. We are closing on on the final stretch!

Outstanding issues include some fundamental logistics that we covered today including: Attendee handouts, evaluation forms, green room monitoring and staffing, and similar items.

Funding wise, we are looking like we’ll be in fairly good shape with just a few more corporate sponsorships. If you work for an organization that might be inclined to sponsor code camp and has not yet done so, please stump for us! Materials to hand to your boss, marketing, or HR department are available here and here.

What’s Left to Do

1. Present a Session

We need more speakers! We currently have 38 speakers registered and that is a great start. We are ahead of the curve on the number of speakers registered this time last year, but we are only about half full! Sign up and pass the word on to your friends and coworkers. Information about the benefits of speaking at Code Camp are here.

2. Spread the word!

We have about 130 attendees registered to attend Code Cap so far. This is also a great start and is an improvement on similar numbers in year’s past, but it is time to start a full court press to get the word out about Code Camp. A Code Camp flier is available here for you to print and post on telephone poles, your cubicle, the break room, the school computer labs, and the front door of Starbucks.
